In China, a few posts related to #MeToo movement survived and remained online well after its peak the state’s response in July 2018. This article proposes theoretical framework that pays attention discursive meaning-making employs broad notion of empowerment, referred as ‘empowerment through discourse’, order offer more nuanced understanding low-profile Chinese context. is used analyse corpus uncensored material, which appeared on social media. combines discourse analysis these interviews with feminists from activist collectives critically examine feminist empowerment by reflecting survivor/victim narration storytelling practices, digital media’s capacity facilitate critical dialogue between witnesses survivors/victims collectives’ organising role opening up dialogic space for collective reading, listening healing.
